It’s been a while! Here’s what’s new…

May 16, 2017

Hello there! So, it’s been well over a year since I’ve posted to this blog and much has happened since then. As you can see, I’ve changed the website…well, after some deliberation, I’ve actually merged blogs and combined everything into one website.

I was going to retire ‘Red Pack Walking’ for a couple of reasons:

  1. I thought I would never be able to hike again, because of issues with my feet
  2. Well, mostly #1 and I didn’t know if I’d have anything interesting to ever write about again that falls under the scope of what my blog was originally developed for…hiking adventures.

However, after some discussion with a few followers, they really enjoyed reading about my adventures. Since I am going to be hiking again, and embarking on an epic adventure at that (details to follow in another post), they said that I should keep Red Pack Walking going (after all the name is quite catchy). This lead me to frantically try to retrieve my domain name, which I let expire…really expire (meaning I even surpassed the grace period they grant you if you forget to pay the renewal fee). Oops! I was finally able to obtain it back after waiting the grace period to allow anyone who had put in an auction bid to buy it first. Of course, nobody put any bid in to buy it, because after all it’s really not a well-known website/blog (and in this instance, I was thankful for that).

I had a domain name for Go. Own It® and I had blogs for my 2014 AT hikes as well as my 2015 AT Thru-Hike (aka Red Pack Walking). I’ve now combined them all into one convenient and pretty website. You can read about what each component is about on the welcome page of this site (if you haven’t already seen it http://go-ownit.com/welcome), so I won’t bore you with the details here.

I will be writing about my upcoming backpacking adventure as well as delving into the realm of writing about places I’ve traveled to that are not hiking-related (and posting a lot of cool pictures). All this will be done with the hope that I can inspire everyone to get out there, live actively, and enjoy the many of the wonders the world whether big or small.

I just wanted to say thank you for coming back and I hope that you will continue to follow me on my journeys. If you’d like to sign up to receive e-mail updates for blog posts, please fill out the form below and submit.

    1. Glad to see you back. I was wondering how you made our after your injuries.
We don’t know each other. However I did meet you briefly at Aero Crossfit on the day they dedicated the WOD to you before your trip.
I was a crossfitter in NJ. I got the dreaded rhabomyolysis last year and haven’t been back to Crossfit. I really miss the gratification of completing each workout and of course being in shape. Anyway. Glad to see you writing again and planning another trip. Regards

      1. Hi Jayne! I actually do remember you! Sorry to hear about your rhabdo. 🙁 I haven’t been back to Crossfit either due to something wrong with my shoulder. I have no idea what happened, I just know that I returned from all that hiking I was doing in 2015, started Crossfit again, and BAM! Shoulder pain. I too, miss Crossfit, but at least I can hike again.

I’m so glad that you are following me! It makes me so happy to know that there’s people who want to read what I write. I hope that I can keep it entertaining enough for you. I do enjoy writing and have put so much work into this new website. I should write an entry about that, it was kind of a nightmare! 😉
