Reflections | In the wilderness, where reality does not submit to human jurisdiction, being simply is. Moments exist unbeknownst to the rest of the world in a state of perpetuity. Mountains move for no one, and nature doesn’t play by anyone’s rules. Up can be down, down can be up, and nobody can challenge it, only acquiesce. Tears of Overwhelming Joy | If someone were to ask me what it was like to summit the highest single free-standing mountain in the world—Mount Kilimanjaro—I would say this picture sums it up. The sheer joy (and relief) felt after accomplishing our task could be described, but with a photo like this, I don’t think I have to put it into words. What is not visible by looking at this image are the tears that stream down my face as my friend Fred and I embrace, celebrating our success.⁣

After summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, Thomson guest Lisa of @go_ownit returned home with a recognition that wherever we go, people are what matter most.

“The hardships we endured and the people who assisted us, without whom we could not have summited successfully, have irrevocably changed our lives forever,” Lisa said.
